Amsterdam-based artist Joep Mencke is renowned for his intrinsic approach to electronic music. His work is heavily driven by the factorisation of sound into our existence, and often implements shards of different cultures and ecosystems to bring an individual character to his already gifted production capability. His latest offering comes as an eye-opening peek into a long-awaited debut LP set for in the tail end of 2022.

Released on Dutch imprint Klassified on 19th August, Mencke’s ‘Su’ is the first glimpse of a telling journey - inspired by a Buddhist’s path to enlightenment. As expected, the track is melodically-charged and presents itself as a depthy sea of emotive instrumental layers. Beyond its well-balanced core of punchy drums and delicate percussive structures, you can find a plethora of tonal components balancing rougher sounds with soothing tones from end to end. A progressive and depthy track with undeniable dancefloor value, ‘Su’ is the perfect introduction ahead of the release of ‘Unalome’ in October.

Speaking about his forthcoming debut LP, Joep says: “I believe we have come to a point where a fundamental change is needed in order for humanity to progress. In order to realize this fundamental change an increase in consciousness/awareness is needed. All of our contemporary complex issues are rooted in ignorance, or a lack of consciousness and awareness.

“Music is an excellent tool for transformation. Through my music I want to facilitate an inward journey for the listener. A journey that opens the listener up to new perspectives and helps them to establish new connections with their selves and the world around them. I’m dedicating my life to raising consciousness. This album will be the first major release that is fundamentally rooted in this mission.”
